It is quite stunning to witness the surprise and anger from politicians regarding the recent Walter Reed scandal. The politicians should see this as just the latest chapter in a mind-bending history of mistreatment perpetrated on our own soldiers. From balcony views of atomic explosions, LSD testing on uninformed personnel, agent pink (later known as orange thanks to PR specialists) usage in Vietnam, unknown concoctions of vaccines in Iraq, it is surprising that we have any faith in our government to do the right thing for our sons and daughters that are sent to war. This is just an abbreviated list of a grizzly
litany of US government testing on its own, and sometimes, the pain really only starts when our exposed warriors return to fight for explanations and full medical coverage. Those who send them on their mission, often deny benefits and deny the suffering of the compromised combatants and use legal obfuscation to hold out on financial reparation that is so deserved by many compromised young people who had, in effect, been used as Guinea Pigs. So the future generations that will inevitably be sent on other empirical overseas endeavors had better be ready for two battles. The 'mission' that is presented by our politicians of the time and then the arduous fight with your government on your return for what is rightly yours. But beware you objectors, as you also face lenghty prison sentences should you suddenly realize that killing foreigners is not what it is cracked up to be.
